Part of my home shack, 2024

For now, I’m primarily using my house shack for the winter. Hopefully this summer I’d like to revive the man-cave shack.

I’ve always loved a ‘rack’ look to my station. Here is one from 2015. Lots of fun re-organizing the shack way back then.

A detailed look at my home shack.

5) Yaesu FT-2900 2-meter FM radio (Replaced my Icom all mode while it gets fixed)

6) Old School Radio Shack Pro-16A. Looks cool and I use it for WX

7) Uniden BC-780XLT - My second real amazing trunking scanner.

8) Uniden BC-780XLT - Mosty used for analog and aircraft monitoring.

9) Uniden BC898T - Another great trunking scanner that used for Trunking and analog.

10) Icom R71-A with a bunch of additions. It is my favorite shortwave radio. I’ve had it for years and always wanted one for a very long time.

11) Icom IC746pro that is now a secondary SWL machine since the TX died on it some time ago. GREAT SWL radio.

12) Universal M-7000 Decoder. Once I get the cord made so it will work on the Icom, it will be back in business. Old school that I don’t need, it was very neat back in the day.

My Old Shack 2016

My base station from 2016

For many years I’ve collected items that I couldn’t afford when they first came out back in the 80s and 90s. As you can see, There are a lot of items here.
I’d like to get this finished one day, but for now it’s just a memory of my once great shack in the man-cave.

I wanted to have 4 sections. SWL, CB, Ham, Scanners. As you can see it’s a bit of mix between them. I can still picture myself looking at the shack wondering what goes where.

I’ll get it all smoothed out, one day.

Enjoy, 73 Joe

VE5JL's Base Station (2016)

Years ago (80s) I used to love looking through my favorite ham radio magazines. I spotted this ad for a shack that reminded me of a professional communications shack. Maybe not as fancy as a Motorola one, but still very neat looking for my little shack.

At the time I didn’t have the money to buy one, so I bought the wood and built my own. Too bad I can’t find a photo of the shack at this time. I’ll keep digging and one day I hope I can find photos of my shacks over the years.
